Detroit Lions star Amik Robertson has shared details of his final conversation with Kyren Lacy following the latter’s death.

Lacy, who was just 24, is reported to have taken his own life just days before a court appearance following negligent homicide charges.

The former LSU wideout was on a $150,000 bond, having been arrested for his involvement in a fatal hit-and-run incident that took place late last year. A grand jury was due to hear evidence in the case this Monday, with Lacy to be tried on charges of negligent homicide, hit-and-run driving with serious injury or death, and reckless operation with accident.

It’s since been reported that Lacy fatally shot himself while being chased by police in Houston on Saturday night.

Robertson, a cornerback for the Lions, also played at LSU and, like Lacy, was from Thibodeaux, Louisiana. He took to social media to post multiple tributes after the devastating news.

“Take your rest lil bro,” he wrote as the caption to a post showing several photos of them together.

Robertson also shared a screenshot of a text exchange between them, which suggests he contacted the wide receiver around the time he was arrested.

“I need you to trust the process and put it in God’s hands,” he told his friend. “I know this is a tough time but my faith (is) high. I don’t know what happened cause I don’t want to get into that.

“But if you are in the wrong everyone makes mistakes. It’s all a learning process. Keep faith brodie… I’m always here, right or wrong.”

“All love brother,” Lacy sent in response.

The star CB sent another message to Lacy, encouraging him to stay strong amid the troubling circumstances.

“Promise me to keep yo head on bro that’s all I ask. Don’t get discouraged by nothing,” it read.

“I promise big bro!! We gone talk in person!” Lacy replied. “Go get dat ring!!”

Sadly, the two men won’t be having that conversation as Lacy fashioned his own demise over the weekend.

His father, Kenny Lacy, made a heart-wrenching statement on Sunday in which he lamented over losing his son as he urged other parents and family members to pay attention to the signs of potential suicide.
