Former Louisiana State University wide receiver Kyren Lacy has reportedly passed away under tragic circumstances.
Reports on Sunday morning claimed the 24-year-old had taken his own life on Saturday night, sending social media into a frenzy.
WAFB’s Jacques Doucet has since revealed having received confirmation from the player’s family.
“I have confirmed with a family member that former @LSUfootball wide receiver Kyren Lacy has passed away in Houston,” he wrote in a tweet.
Lacy began his college career at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2020 before transferring to LSU, where he played from 2022 to 2024. He had his best season in 2024, recording 58 receptions, 866 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns for the Tigers.

Lacy was considered to be a potential first-round pick in 2025 after leading LSU in TDs last season but got into trouble off the field.
He was arrested earlier this year following a fatal hit-and-run accident in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, with his actions allegedly causing the death of a former United States Marine and injuring two other people.
A grand jury was expected to begin listening to evidence in the case this coming Monday.
TPS extends condolences to Kyren’s family, friends, and loved ones through this distressing period.
