Kairo Forbes breaks down after performing AKA song onstage

Her dad would be proud! Kairo is being praised for “bravely” performing one of her dad’s songs.

DJ Zinhle has applauded her daughter, Kairo Forbes, for paying tribute to her late father, rapper AKA, in front of thousands of people.

Kairo, who celebrated her eight birthday in July, joined her mother on stage at the weekend for a special performance dedicated to her dad. AKA was s@@t and k@@d earlier this year outside a restaurant on Durban’s Florida Road.

Kairo sang along to ‘JIKA’  and ‘Company’ while the crowd cheered her on.

Zinhle had to comfort a teary-eyed Kairo after her performance.

“After bravely performing her dad’s song in front of thousands of people, my 8-year-old broke down crying saying she just misses her daddy & wishes he was here,” the DJ captioned pictures from the performance.

The 39-year-old revealed that Kairo “suppresses her feelings” and it was one of the few times she saw her daughter cry like that.

“Halfway into my first song, @kairo.forbes was standing next me – check the last slide. You can see that she literally wiped her tears and stood bravely next to me. I am so proud of her but I wish she didn’t need to be so brave. I just wish she still had her dad.”

Kairo also shared a special moment onstage with AKA’s girlfriend, Nadia Nakai. They performed together before DJ Zinhle came onstage.

Nadia shared a video of their rehearsal on social media before the performance. The video showed her smiling and laughing as Kairo practiced her singing.

Nadia was just as proud of brave Kairo for her special tribute to her dad.

“I love her so much! She did so amazing tonight!!! Her dad would’ve been so proud!” the rapper wrote on Instagram.
